Sertifi determines the surcharge percentage based on local regulations, card brand rules, etc. This is set up during the implementation process, and the percentage remains the same for every payment sent through that portal. The surcharge percentage does not fluctuate.

Accept ACH payments, which have significantly lower fees than cards.
Tie payments to event contracts, ensuring payment and lowering your chargeback risk.
How surcharging works
Sertifi by Flywire allows you to request an event contract e-signature and payment in one easy step – and with the ability to respond from any device and location, it couldn't be any easier for your customers.
With one click, you can decide to enable surcharging* on a transaction when setting up your request.
When customers go to pay online via a secure payment form, they'll see the surcharge (listed as a credit card fee) as part of the form.
You'll also be able to offer an easy, free ACH option to payers, should they want to opt out of the surcharge.
* Surcharging rules and regulations vary by state, country, or individual customer. Please reference our terms and conditions here.
More ways to save
Since implementing surcharging, customers have seen real changes to their payment mix:
You'll see a significant shift to the free ACH payment option.
Debit card use will increase as customers choose to avoid the surcharge.
Your card fees are reduced by an average of 75%.
Credit cards are still a popular choice for corporate clients, for whom surcharging is a business expense, and individual guests, who prioritize earning rewards over saving the fee.
