La Cantera Resort & Spa Accelerates Business and Increases Security with Sertifi OPERA Integration

Opportunity

Staff at La Cantera Resort & Spa were eager to simplify their authorization, event contracting, and event payment processes for all parties involved. By bringing together traditionally separate workflows into one system, they knew they could reduce manual steps and deliver a more convenient experience to guests.

They also knew streamlining processes would enhance their security best practices, as personal information would be safely stored and managed in a PCI-compliant manner. Pre-Sertifi, staff were taking credit card information over the phone and having to manually enter it into their existing systems.

Most importantly, any new solution needed to integrate with their existing property management system, Oracle OPERA.

The Sertifi Solution


By implementing the complete Sertifi platform, the property:

Increased convenience for guests and staff.


The property now collects all incoming payments from one, secure platform. With a seamless integration to OPERA, Sertifi allows staff to create and send authorization, e-signature, and payment requests and have information automatically flow into their PMS.

Guests can conveniently respond to requests from any device and location, so they’re no longer hassled with locating a printer and fax machine to sign documents or having to share credit card information over the phone. This led to an overall faster turnaround on requests that required fewer follow-ups and gained staff more time for new revenue-generating activity.

Since rolling out Sertifi, the property has also migrated to Sertifi’s next-generation user interface and is enjoying the more modern, streamlined experience.

Reduced payment processing fees.


By enabling ACH (eCheck), which has lower processing fees than credit cards, the property has been able to drive down costs while delivering greater payment flexibility to guests. By processing credit card deposits and final payments securely online, instead of key-entering cards at the front desk, the property also avoids unnecessary processing penalty fees. Card issuers see key-entering as a sure sign of fraud, so not only penalize merchants with higher fees but also oftentimes decline the cards altogether.

Increased security and PCI compliance.


In addition to capturing secure payments, the property now sends all credit card authorization forms to guests via email to complete securely online in a PCI-compliant manner. Each form includes an e-signature from the cardholder to further help reduce the number of disputes, strengthen protection from fraudsters, and prevent revenue loss.
