This month’s Sertifi Employee Spotlight is on Cloud Cybersecurity Specialist Oba Shyllon. Keep reading to learn more about Oba’s role, what advice he’d give to prospective hires, and what he misses about being in the office.

What is your role at Sertifi and tell me about your day-to-day?

I’m a Cloud Cybersecurity Specialist at Sertifi, and my day-to-day involves administering and monitoring Sertifi’s security solutions, collaborating with the rest of the technology team to implement security measures, working with other teams in an advisory role, and overseeing Sertifi’s information security compliance program. 

Congrats on your recent promotion! How has your role changed? 

Thanks! I now manage more security solutions and have more compliance responsibilities. We now plan to acquire more industry-standard compliance certifications, so my responsibilities have been changed to accommodate that. 

What is your proudest moment at Sertifi? 

I was really proud of the collective efforts of everyone involved in designing, developing, testing, and rolling out FPS, and the independent penetration test performed on it that was completed with no vulnerabilities found.  

What advice do you have for prospective new hire candidates?

Ask a lot of questions, help as much as you can, and be proactive.  

What are 3 words to describe Sertifi?

Collaborative, flexible, and fun.  

What do you miss most about being physically in the office every day? 

Chatting with coworkers, trying out restaurants near the office, and especially the Friday happy hours. 

What do you like best about working from home?

“Commuting” a few feet to work, and getting a bit more sleep because of said commute.  

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m usually listening to music, a podcast or the news, watching a TV show, playing videogames, watching soccer (I’m a big Arsenal fan), or hanging out with friends.

What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love? 

Game of Thrones Season 8. Just kidding, I really liked Desperate Housewives. 

What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

I’m pretty sure my 13-year-old self wouldn’t listen to anything I have to say, but I’d tell him to keep at it anyway.
